design approach
I work very closely with all my clients to ensure I understand their needs, wants and values, so their garden design is individual to them.
I try to keep my designs simple, creating a strong geometric ground pattern which balances different elements in the space. With an emphasis on quality I limit the choices of materials used but repeat them through the design to create unity, and to ensure the hard landscaping doesn’t fight for attention with the planting.
Naturalistic and architectural planting are combined in my designs, using a wide range of perennials, ornamental grasses, hedges and trees appropriate to the site and client preferences.
I strive to give the gardens I design a sense of place, responding to, and mindful of, the local landscape, so the garden relates to its setting as well as to the house.
